This prestigious award is open to U.S., Finnish, and international students who have been admitted to one of the University’s International Master’s Degree Programs.
A Gateway to International Master’s Degree Programs at University of Helsinki:
The University of Helsinki offers a wide range of International Master’s Degree Programs taught in English. Some of these programs are jointly provided by the University of Helsinki and other Finnish or foreign universities. Students enrolled in these two-year programs will experience a truly international learning environment, engaging with peers from Finland and around the world.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Fulbright-University of Helsinki Graduate Award for International Students, applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

Scholarship Benefits:
Recipients of the Fulbright-University of Helsinki Graduate Award will receive the following benefits:
- A monthly grant of EUR 1,000 (paid for nine months)
- A travel award of USD 1,600
- A residence permit allowance (based on actual permit fees, including the grantee and accompanying family members)
- A supplemental accident and sickness benefit (ASPE)
Additionally, based on an agreement with the Fulbright Finland Foundation, the University of Helsinki will provide a full tuition scholarship (ranging from EUR 13,000 to EUR 18,000, depending on the program) for the Fulbright-University of Helsinki Graduate Award recipients. The scholarship is also granted for the second year of Master’s studies, subject to the grantee’s successful progress during the first year.
Furthermore, recipients will have the opportunity to participate, free of charge, in a Fulbright Finland Foundation pre-approved summer school in Finland, which offers courses in Finnish language, culture, and society, subject to program availability. There is also an opportunity to apply for additional funding from the Lois Roth Foundation (to be applied for after arrival in Finland).
