Karachi Central Jail held Pakistan’s first-ever convocation for 248 inmates who successfully completed vocational courses. These courses included IT, graphic design, Chinese, and English. This significant event marked a milestone in the rehabilitation efforts for prisoners in Pakistan.
During the ceremony, top achievers were awarded Rs25,000 cash prizes and gifts to recognize their hard work and accomplishments. The Alkhidmat Foundation organized and managed the rehabilitation program, which has been instrumental in providing inmates with valuable skills.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Sindh Minister for Jail Ali Hassan Zardari, DIG Naveed Ali Baig, and Sindh IG Prisons Qazi Nazir Ahmed. Their presence underscored the importance of education and skill development for inmates.
In his speech, DIG Naveed Ali Baig announced plans for a new Skills Development and Vocational Training Institute at Karachi Central Jail. This institute aims to further enhance the skills of inmates, providing them with better opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Minister Zardari highlighted ongoing improvements in the prison system. These include initiatives for solar energy and increased support for disadvantaged inmates. He promised to implement similar rehabilitation programs across Sindh, aiming to bring positive changes to the prison system throughout the region.
This convocation not only celebrated the achievements of the inmates but also highlighted the ongoing efforts to reform the prison system and provide inmates with the tools they need for a better future.
