The Transport International Routes Convention made a significant breakthrough as the first truck carrying export goods from Russia reached Pakistan successfully. As stated by Asad Mehmood, the Federal Minister of Communications, the event holds great importance in the current economical and geographical context.
Asad Mehmood further expressed that this agreement has the potential to act as a catalyst for Pakistan’s economic growth and can facilitate increased trading.
The Russian embassy also confirmed the successful arrival of goods under the TIR Convention referring to a positive trajectory in the trade relationship between Pakistan and Russia. The bilateral trade experienced a significant surge of around 50% crossing $760 million by May 2023.
Asad Mehmood further reaffirmed the significance of the road transport agreement between both the countries signed during his tour to Moscow in November’22.
