Former Pakistan Skipper Javeria Khan Took Retirement from International Cricket

Javeria Khan, a distinguished right-handed batter, has announced her retirement from international cricket following a remarkable career that spanned an impressive 15 years.

Her journey in international cricket commenced in 2008 when she made her debut in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) during a Women’s Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka. Subsequently, she debuted in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against Ireland in Dublin in 2009, as per the Pakistan Cricket Board’s press release.

Throughout her illustrious career, Javeria Khan made significant contributions to the Pakistan women’s cricket team across various formats.

In a total of 228 international matches, she amassed a remarkable tally of 4,903 runs, which included two centuries and 25 half-centuries.

Her impact extended beyond batting, as she also demonstrated her prowess with the ball, claiming 28 international wickets. Notably, Javeria Khan holds the distinction of being the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs and T20Is for Pakistan’s women’s team.

She stands out as the sole women’s cricketer from Pakistan to have achieved the milestone of scoring over 2,000 runs in both ODI and T20 formats, alongside Bismah Maroof.

Javeria Khan’s presence was felt profoundly in Pakistan’s cricketing endeavors, as she actively participated in four 50-over World Cups and all eight T20 World Cups since its inception.

She played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s triumphs at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games, contributing significantly to the team’s success in securing gold medals on both occasions.

Her retirement marks the conclusion of a remarkable chapter in Pakistan women’s cricket, characterized by dedication, skill, and numerous accolades.

Javeria Khan’s legacy as one of Pakistan’s most accomplished cricketers will undoubtedly inspire future generations of aspiring female cricketers in the country.
