Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, thanked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for releasing more than 7,000 Pakistani prisoners between 2019 and 2024. This release happened after Imran Khan requested it during the Crown Prince’s visit to Pakistan in 2019.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also spoke about the government’s commitment to helping Pakistani citizens imprisoned in other countries. He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working to protect their rights and ensure they receive fair treatment. Currently, around 23,456 Pakistanis are serving sentences in prisons worldwide for various reasons.
