Google appears to be working on a new feature called “Adaptive Touch” for Pixel devices, aiming to adjust the touchscreen sensitivity automatically based on certain factors. According to reports from Android Authority, the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 mentions “Adaptive Touch” as a feature for upcoming Pixel models in 2024, possibly debuting with the Pixel 9 series. This feature would enable the touchscreen sensitivity to adapt to different situations and activities, including the use of a screen protector.
While the exact details of how “Adaptive Touch” works are still unclear, it is expected to include features like automatic sensitivity adjustment for wet screens, glove usage, or optimized sensitivity during gaming. This feature could enhance the user experience in various usage scenarios, similar to OnePlus’ “Aqua Touch” feature introduced on the OnePlus 12 last year, which provided excellent touchscreen response on wet displays.
