In a significant step toward promoting renewable energy, all 737 police stations across Punjab, including those in Lahore, will be powered by solar energy. The Inspector General (IG) of Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, made this announcement, explaining that the solar power project will be implemented in two phases.In the first phase, 350 police stations will be equipped with solar power systems, and this includes 40 stations in Lahore.
The remaining 375 police stations will be covered in the second phase, which is scheduled for the next fiscal year.Each police station will be fitted with a 3-kilowatt solar power system, along with battery storage to ensure continuous electricity supply. This initiative is part of Punjab’s broader commitment to adopting renewable energy solutions and promoting environmental sustainability.
The move to solar power is expected to reduce the dependence on traditional energy sources and contribute to the province’s efforts to combat energy shortages.
It also aligns with the government’s goal to reduce carbon emissions and create a more eco-friendly future. By transitioning to solar energy, Punjab is taking concrete steps to support clean energy initiatives while improving the efficiency and reliability of police stations throughout the province.
