As Eid Al-Adha is just around the corner, health experts have shared useful tips for meat lovers. Follow the below-mentioned tips this meaty Eid to enjoy the delicious dishes while keeping your health in check.

Medical experts believe that meat must be consumed in balanced amounts as overeating can lead to diarrhea, indigestion, cholera, or other stomach problems. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the advice of the health experts.

Average Consumption

An average healthy adult should consume around 60 – 100 grams of meat as 100 grams of meat contains 143 calories, 26 grams of proteins, 3 – 5 grams of fat, and several minerals and vitamins.

Depending upon the type of meat and animal, the amounts of calories and useful constituents can vary however, the effectiveness remains the same.

Nutrients in Meat

Any kind of meat consists of the following.

  • Proteins.
  • Fats.
  • Vitamin B 12.
  • Zinc.
  • Vitamin B 6.
  • Selenium.
  • Iron.

Overeating meat excessively increases the amounts of the above-mentioned nutrients in the body leading to adverse effects on health.

Tip on Consumption

The average consumption of meat can be two times a week. According to the experts, a healthy individual can eat half a kg of meat in 1 week. In addition, the meat of Qurbani can be frozen for 12 weeks. Frozen meat of 6 months duration is not suggested.

People with heart problems are strictly prohibited to eat kidney, spleen, and brain as it contains high amounts of cholesterol.

Medical experts advise to properly clean the meat before usage and it must be cooked properly. In addition, the meat must be cooked in less amount of oil. The addition of ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, and spices is encouraged.

Moreover, experts advise that if people are consuming meat two times a day, make sure the third meal is based on vegetables or pulses.

Walk after consuming meat is highly recommended along with having salad, fruits, and lemonade.
