Residents in the UAE are set to enjoy the longest break of the year next month for Eid Al Adha, spanning over six days. The government has announced a four-day holiday to commemorate this occasion, which includes one day of Arafah followed by three days of Eid.
According to the Islamic lunar calendar, the break will fall on the 9th to 12th of Zul Hijjah, the final month of the calendar. For those following the widely used Gregorian calendar, Eid Al Adha will be celebrated from Tuesday, June 27, until Sunday, July 2, including the weekend.
However, UAE residents have the opportunity to extend this six-day break into a nine or ten-day holiday by applying for one day of leave on Monday, June 26, if their companies approve it.
Based on these calculations, employees in the UAE can enjoy a nine-day break from Saturday, June 24, until Sunday, July 2. Meanwhile, individuals working in the Sharjah government will have a ten-day break since the emirate follows a four-day work week.
The confirmed dates for the holiday will be announced once the sighting of the Zul Hijjah moon takes place in June.
