Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), shared his vision of making Pakistan an economic powerhouse during a public gathering in Lahore. Speaking from London, he celebrated the 25th Youm-e-Takbeer Day and recalled the challenges he faced when Pakistan conducted nuclear tests, including offers of billions of dollars and threats.
Despite the obstacles, Nawaz Sharif highlighted his achievement of making Pakistan a nuclear power, which symbolizes the country’s defense and dignity. He expressed concern about the hurdles encountered in the journey towards economic development, such as the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee and the increasing prices of essential commodities like flour.
Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the violence that occurred on May 9 and called for the nation to focus on celebrating the events of May 28, 1998, which signify progress and growth. Maryam Nawaz, the chief organizer of PML-N, supported her father’s stance, emphasizing his commitment to prioritizing national interests in establishing Pakistan as a nuclear power. She criticized Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing him of inciting violence and warned that those involved may face terrorism charges.
