After Shehbaz Sharif’s time as Prime Minister, the government has decided to let a different company run the Islamabad International Airport. This will happen for 15 years, and the company chosen will give the government $100 million upfront. If they don’t follow the rules, they’ll lose that money and the deal will end.
The Ministry of Finance agreed to this plan when Anwarul Haq Kakar became the temporary Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Even though we don’t know all the details yet, we hear that the chosen company will handle the airport’s management and money, as well as how it looks. They’ll also take care of things like how much shops can charge, the money exchange rate, and how much stores in the airport pay for space.
But the airport’s safety, customs, and immigration will still be looked after by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
It sounds like the chosen company will also be able to build malls and famous brand stores in the airport.
