Karachi recently experienced its coldest night of the winter season, with temperatures plummeting to 13.5 degrees Celsius, as reported by the Meteorological Office on a Friday.
The chilling conditions were also felt across the province of Sindh, where Mithi recorded the lowest temperature at 6.5 °C, followed by Mohenjo Daro (7 °C), Sukkur (8 °C), and Shaheed Benazirabad district (9.5 °C).
The Meteorological Office has provided insights into the upcoming weather conditions in the region. Karachi is expected to have a maximum daytime temperature ranging between 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. However, a further drop in temperature is anticipated on Saturday-Sunday night, with the mercury forecasted to fall to 12 °C.
The weather forecast for Karachi indicates dry conditions for the next two days, with the possibility of light fog in the morning. Winds are expected to blow from the northeast during the day and shift to the southwest in the evening.
Across most parts of Sindh, the weather is predicted to remain dry and cold. The Meteorological Office’s monthly report suggests nearly normal to slightly above-average rainfall, including snowfall over high mountains, over most parts of the country. This is particularly expected in the central parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the current month.
Looking ahead to January, the report indicates that nearly normal precipitation is expected over most parts of the country, with a specific emphasis on Sindh.
As we move into February 2024, the forecast suggests normal to slightly above-normal precipitation over most parts of the country, especially in upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The recent cold spell in Karachi, along with the broader weather outlook for the region, underscores the need for residents to brace for cooler temperatures and potential weather changes in the coming days and weeks.
