Karachi recently had one of its hottest nights this July, as the temperature dipped only to 31.6 degrees Celsius, just below the record of 32 degrees Celsius set on July 1st. Today, the city remains hot and humid, with temperatures soaring up to 39 degrees Celsius. There’s a chance of rain in suburban areas, similar to yesterday when Gulshan-e-Hadeed received 2 millimetres of rainfall.
On average, Karachi experiences temperatures around 27.9 degrees Celsius in July. These recent temperatures are significantly higher, averaging 4.1 degrees Celsius above normal. The Pakistan Meteorological Department attributes this prolonged heat to the delay in the return of sea breezes and high humidity levels. Despite some scattered rainfall last week, residents are still enduring unusually high temperatures.
The eagerly awaited monsoon season is expected to reach Sindh, including Karachi, around July 18th or 19th. Currently, a sea breeze blowing at 18 kilometres per hour offers some relief, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 34°C and 36°C.
