Final-year pharmacy students from the University of Karachi have introduced a groundbreaking invention: the world’s smallest rechargeable nebulizer. This compact device is designed to make respiratory treatment much more convenient and accessible for people with breathing difficulties.
Measuring less than an inch in width, the portable nebulizer can be easily carried and used on the go. Once fully charged, it provides up to 35 minutes of therapy, and its battery can last for up to two days, making it ideal for those who need respiratory support throughout the day. Another significant feature is that the device is made from eco-friendly bioplastics, which makes it more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Additionally, the nebulizer operates silently, making it well-suited for use in quiet environments, such as offices or while traveling.
This new design offers an alternative to the traditional nebulizers that are often large, heavy, and noisy. Most standard models can cost between Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000, whereas this new, efficient nebulizer is available for under Rs 2,000. The team of students hopes that this invention will make respiratory care more affordable and accessible, especially for young children and older adults who often face challenges using conventional nebulizers.
