Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a call from King Charles III inviting him to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa this October. PM Sharif has accepted the invitation, noting that this summit is particularly important because it will be the first time King Charles chairs the event since he became the head of the Commonwealth in September 2022.
In his response, PM Sharif underscored the significance of the summit, emphasizing Pakistan’s strong commitment to the values of the Commonwealth. He pointed out that it is crucial to address major issues like sustainable development and climate change, especially given Pakistan’s own challenges with climate-related impacts.
Additionally, PM Sharif took the opportunity to ask about the King’s health and sent his best wishes to the Princess of Wales, congratulating her on her recent recovery. This visit represents a meaningful moment for Pakistan to engage with Commonwealth leaders on pressing global issues.
