The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has introduced a new welfare program to provide financial support to brides from underprivileged backgrounds. Under this initiative, brides will receive a grant of Rs200,000 during mass wedding events held across the province. The aim is to assist over 4,000 women and reduce the financial burden of marriage.
This announcement followed a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, where various social welfare projects were discussed, including the use of Zakat and dowry funds. These funds will be utilized to support the new welfare programs, ensuring that more people benefit from them.
In addition to the marriage grants, the K-P government is also launching the “Orphan Card” program. This initiative will provide Rs5,000 per month to orphans who are attending school, helping to ensure their education continues without financial stress.
Other welfare projects include funding for Panahgahs (shelter homes), providing wheelchairs for disabled students, and establishing old-age homes with recreational facilities. The government is also considering a “Ration Card” scheme to provide food support for elderly widows.
These efforts aim to improve the lives of underserved and vulnerable groups in K-P, ensuring they have better access to basic needs and a chance to live with dignity. The government’s commitment to welfare programs reflects its dedication to supporting the most vulnerable segments of society.
