The Lahore Zoo has been privatized, with a private company securing a contract worth Rs 500 million. The deal includes management of various services such as parking and entry tickets. The Punjab Wildlife Department successfully auctioned the zoo’s services, exceeding the reserve price of Rs 320 million by Rs 180 million.
Under this agreement, the private company will oversee parking on Mall Road and Lawrence Road, as well as entry tickets for several attractions. These include the aquarium, snake house, aviary, and newly introduced virtual reality experiences.
The zoo’s entry ticket is priced at Rs 100. Additional charges apply for attractions like the snake house (Rs 200), walk-through aviary (Rs 100), and holo-verse experience (Rs 300).
Mudasir Hassan, Director of the project, expressed satisfaction with the privatization, crediting the success to the strategic planning by the DG Wildlife and the zoo management committee. He highlighted that the privatization would improve services and attract more visitors.
Moreover, additional revenue is expected through future auctions for services like electric swings, horse rides, jumping castles, and cafeteria operations.
This privatization aims to enhance the zoo experience for visitors while generating significant income for the Punjab Wildlife Department. It marks a new chapter for Lahore Zoo, one of the city’s popular attractions, with expectations of better facilities and increased visitor engagement.
