In the second incident of animal cruelty in the country within two weeks, a donkey had its ears cut off in a village in the Rawalpindi district. The owner of the donkey, Tanveer Hussain, blamed another man for this act of brutality. The police, however, think the incident might be related to an old feud and a land dispute.

According to the first information report (FIR) filed at the Rawat Police Station 14 days after the incident, Hussain, who is a farmer from Dhakala Dakkhana, Saagri, explained what happened.

He said that after he finished harvesting his crop, he allowed his donkey to wander in his empty fields. On June 4, the donkey, which usually came back home for water, returned in the evening with its ears chopped off.

Hussain talked to local villagers to find out who did this cruel act. The villagers hinted that Arshad Mehmood, a relative, was the likely culprit, but they were too scared to name him directly. Hussain then carried out his own investigation and gathered some evidence, which he gave to the police.

Even though the incident happened two weeks earlier, Hussain’s case was only registered recently. Station House Officer (SHO) Chaudary Zulfiqar mentioned that no arrests had been made yet, but the investigation is still ongoing.

This incident follows another case of animal cruelty that occurred in the country two weeks earlier, highlighting a disturbing trend. Hussain is seeking justice for his donkey and is cooperating with the authorities in the hope that the perpetrator will be caught and punished.

The police are looking into the matter and trying to determine whether the attack on the donkey was indeed part of a broader conflict over land or a personal vendetta.

The community is also affected by this incident, as it has created an atmosphere of fear and tension among the villagers. They are concerned about their safety and the well-being of their animals. Hussain’s efforts to seek justice and the ongoing police investigation reflect the community’s desire for resolution and peace.
