Pakistan’s telecommunication regulator, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), is in the process of giving its Web Management System (WMS) a much-needed makeover. However, this move has raised eyebrows. Digital rights activist Usama Khilji isn’t entirely convinced. He finds PTA’s response somewhat inconsistent and contradictory. Khilji points out that PTA holds a direct grip on content blocking through internet cables, adding a layer of complexity to the situation.
