Pakistan’s fast bowler Nasim Shah has achieved a unique honor in the history of Pakistan’s 50-year One Day International (ODI) cricket. In his first 13 ODIs, Nasim Shah became the first Pakistani bowler to take at least one wicket in each of those matches. In the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, he took 3 wickets against Bangladesh at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. So far, in his 20-year career, Nasim Shah has taken 32 wickets in 13 matches with an average of 15.31.
Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam has once again etched his name in the record books, surpassing India’s Virat Kohli in this regard. Babar Azam has achieved the distinction of being the fastest captain to reach 2000 runs in One Day International cricket. Babar took 31 innings to reach this milestone, while Virat Kohli had achieved it as captain in 36 innings. South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Australia’s Michael Clarke are third and fourth in this list with 41 and 47 innings respectively.
During the Asia Cup Super Four match against Bangladesh at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the Pakistani captain achieved this feat by scoring 6 runs. Last week, in the opening match of the Asia Cup, Babar Azam scored a magnificent 151 runs off just 131 balls, leaving South Africa’s Hashim Amla behind in the process, becoming the fastest player in the history of ODIs to score 19 centuries in the format.
