Dr. A. Q Khan played key role in the establishment of prestigious Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI). He was the first Project Director and played a pivotal role in the institute’s construction, despite his heavy preoccupations. In addition to this, he was also the 1st interim Dean of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Dr. Khan was instrumental in designing the curricula and labs of GIKI, which have helped the institute become the center of excellence in computing and engineering universities in Pakistan. Interestingly, his PhD supervisor, Prof. Martin J. Brabers, was the first Rector of GIKI.
The contributions of Dr. Khan and other founding members have laid a solid foundation for GIKI’s success and reputation in the field of computing, engineering and management sciences. GIKI is Pakistan’s only fully residential University known for its rich grooming environment due to vibrant student societies. GIKI has recently announced a large number of scholarships and admissions.
