A team of 22 members from the Pakistani American Law Enforcement Society (PALES) within the New York Police Department (NYPD) met with Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to share ideas on policing methods. During the meeting, the PALES representatives suggested offering training to the Sindh police in different areas, including preventing street crimes, handling minor offenses, gathering intelligence, managing traffic, and enhancing vigilance.
The delegation, led by Rohail Khalid, included officers from various police departments like Integrity Control, Traffic Enforcement, Intelligence, and Training Bureau. Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, IG Police Ghulam Mabi Memon, Secretary to CM Raheem Shaikh, and other officials were also present.
Chief Minister Shah discussed the issue of terrorism in Karachi, linking it to the aftermath of the Afghan war and regional political dynamics. He recognized the sacrifices made by law enforcement personnel in combating terrorism in the region.
Additionally, he highlighted the ongoing efforts by the police and Rangers to address street crimes in the city through various operations. Moreover, he mentioned the government’s plans to update laws to integrate technological advancements in dealing with repeat offenders.
