As part of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)’s efforts to explore natural resources, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has made a major discovery of gas reserves in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This discovery marks a significant step forward for Pakistan’s energy sector and its journey toward achieving greater self-sufficiency.
The newly found reserves have the potential to produce up to 2.14 million cubic feet of gas every day. This production level is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the country’s energy needs, reducing reliance on imports and supporting local industries. Furthermore, this milestone opens doors for increased exploration activities in Pakistan’s mining and energy sectors, signaling a promising future for resource development.
On December 13, OGDCL officially announced the discovery of oil and gas reserves at the Bettani-2 well, located in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The well is currently yielding 2.14 million standard cubic feet of gas and 74 barrels of condensate daily. This discovery is anticipated to significantly boost the country’s overall oil and gas reserves and provide a much-needed boost to the energy supply.
