Over 16 Million Tourists Visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2023

In the vibrant landscape of 2023, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emerged as a beacon for travelers, magnetizing an astounding 16 million tourists, as disclosed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Tourism’s recent report. This surge in tourism was meticulously documented by the World Bank’s Kite Project’s 1422 call center, revealing a significant influx within the timeframe of January 1 to December 26, 2023.

Galiyat, with its enchanting vistas, emerged as a prime destination, captivating 6,348 visitors throughout the year. The region’s natural beauty and charm proved irresistible, establishing it as a sought-after spot for travelers seeking tranquility.

The Naran and Kaghan valleys, renowned for their captivating landscapes, recorded an impressive 5,080,000 visitors, while the adventure-centric Malam Jabba witnessed 3,549,000 visitors. These destinations became hubs for those in pursuit of both serenity and excitement.

Delving into the lesser-explored gems, Deir Bala and Deir Zerin contributed significantly to the diverse tapestry of experiences Khyber Pakhtunkhwa offers, attracting 1,380,740 tourists.

Lower Chitral hosted 591,330 tourists, including 1,624 foreign visitors, showcasing the region’s global appeal. Upper Chitral welcomed 791 travelers, adding to the cultural and exploratory diversity. Dir Upper and Lower collectively received 417 visitors, while Gilat, Malam Jabba, and Naran Kaghan registered 237, 588, and 897 tourists, respectively.

This influx not only underscores the natural allure of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also highlights the success of strategic initiatives in promoting tourism. The province’s ability to balance the preservation of its pristine landscapes with the increasing tourist footfall marks a commendable achievement, promising a flourishing future for tourism in the region.
