Since its start on November 1, 2023, the Balochistan Health Card Programme has given free medical care to a total of 28,185 people.
In a meeting led by the temporary Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki, various officials, including Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Rashid Razak Khan, and others, evaluated how well the program is doing and talked about the difficulties it faces.
During the meeting, CEO Asadullah Kakar gave a detailed look at the program, saying how it’s open to everyone, no matter their financial situation, and how it operates in 1,200 hospitals all over the country. Despite doing well, they talked about how not enough people know about the program’s benefits and how there are problems with managing it.
The fact that 28,185 people got treatment, especially in Quetta where many were treated for heart issues, shows they’re making good progress. To deal with concerns about how the program is managed, Kakar talked about setting up a digital system to watch over things and make sure resources are being used properly. This system will give updates in real-time through a special mobile app.
Because of the health cards, private doctors are charging less, which is good for people who don’t have much money. But they need to do more to let everyone in Balochistan know about the program so they can get the healthcare they need.
