On Sunday, a large number of pilgrims arrived at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, marking the start of the biggest annual pilgrimage in several years. They began their journey by circling the Kaaba, known as Tawaf Al-Qudum, which is the first circumambulation performed after entering the state of ihram. This act symbolizes their arrival in Makkah, the spiritual center of Islam and the main destination of the Hajj pilgrimage.
After Tawaf Al-Qudum, the pilgrims will head to Mina, a vast tent city located about 5 km east of Makkah. Mina is famous for being the world’s largest tent city. From there, they will proceed to Mount Arafat, where it is believed that the Prophet Muhammad delivered his final sermon. The eighth day of the Islamic month of Dul Hijjah, known as the Day of Tarwiyah, is dedicated to preparing the pilgrims mentally and physically for the profound spiritual experience they will have at Mount Arafat.
On the ninth day of Dul Hijjah, the pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat, which is the highlight of the Hajj pilgrimage. They engage in prayers, seeking forgiveness and mercy from Allah. The afternoon prayers are performed at Namirah Mosque, strengthening their connection with Allah and participating in collective worship alongside millions of fellow pilgrims from all over the world.
