In the Allai Tehsil of Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, something sad happened on Tuesday. A chairlift’s cable had a problem, and eight people got stuck in the air, including six kids from school. To help them, the army sent a helicopter to rescue them.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) explained what happened because of the chairlift problem. One of the cables broke, and the chairlift was stuck about 900 feet high. They worked with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to figure out how to rescue the people.
The NDMA and PDMA worked together, and a helicopter from the Pakistan Army was sent to help. The Deputy Inspector General of Police from Mansehra, Tahir Ayub, said that using a helicopter was really important to get the people safely back.
One of the passengers, Gulfaraz, said that the first cable broke at 7 am, and then another one broke shortly after.
Sonia Shamrose, who’s in charge of the district police, promised that they were doing everything they could to get the people off the chairlift and to safety.
