An announcement has been made regarding official holidays for Eid al-Adha. The government has issued notifications for three days off.
According to the notification issued by the federal government, Eid al-Adha will be observed as a public holiday from June 29th to July 1st. Yesterday, on Monday, the sighting of the Zilhajj moon was confirmed, indicating that Eid al-Adha will be celebrated nationwide on June 29th.
It is important to note that government employees will return to work on Monday, July 3rd, after four days off, including Sunday.
On the other hand, this year’s Hajj pilgrimage will take place on June 27th. More than 1.7 million Muslims, including over 300,000 from Pakistan, will fulfill the obligation of Hajj, coming from various parts of the world.
The Prime Minister approved the public holidays based on the Cabinet Division’s Circular No. 10-02/2022-Min-II dated December 23, 2022. For offices that have a five-day working week, the holidays will be on June 29 and 30, 2023 (Thursday and Friday). For offices that have a six-day working week, the holidays will be from June 29 to July 1, 2023 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).
The announcement of Eid ul Adha on June 29 was made by the Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Moulana Abdul Khabir Azad, on Monday evening, stating that the Crescent of Zil Hajj 1444 AH had been sighted.
