In a collaborative effort between the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps North, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, significant strides have been made to enhance living conditions in the border regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The installation of three hydroelectric turbines in the Elum Valley of Buner marks a transformative initiative, breaking a 70-year-long absence of electricity in the area.
The impact is profound, with a 150-kilowatt turbine illuminating 500 homes in Ellum Kalay and Karapa Kalay, a 200-kilowatt turbine powering 500 homes in Jobra Kalay and Sheen Dhand, and a 250-kilowatt turbine lighting up 500 homes in Char Kalay. The turbines, accompanied by meticulous infrastructure development, including transformers, pedestrian transmission lines, and transmission line installations in challenging terrains, showcase the determination and effectiveness of the military collaboration.
