Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting believes that Pakistan has a strong chance of reaching the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
During his conversation on The ICC Review, Ponting spoke highly of Pakistan’s recent performances in one-day international (ODI) cricket. He pointed out that Pakistan has secured important series victories against teams like Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. These wins have helped the team build confidence and momentum ahead of the upcoming tournament.
Ponting admitted that Pakistan has not always been the most consistent team, but he feels they have found their rhythm at the right time. While both he and former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri expect the final to be between India and Australia, Ponting emphasized that Pakistan has the ability to challenge the top teams.
Pakistan previously won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, and with the 2025 edition being hosted in their own country, they will aim to take full advantage of home conditions and compete for the title once again.
