Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change, inaugurated the Rashid Minhas Green Road, a step forward in promoting environmental sustainability.
The event, organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), welcomed prominent guests such as Rwanda’s High Commissioner Fatou Harerimana, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Khazar Farhadov, and Dr. Bushra Mirza, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University.
RCCI President Usman Shaukat highlighted the devastating impact of climate change on Pakistan. He pointed out that over 2 million acres of crops have been damaged, affecting 22% of the population that relies on agriculture for their livelihood. Shaukat emphasized the urgent need for sustainable practices and collective efforts to tackle these challenges.
Romina Khurshid Alam praised RCCI’s Green Road initiative, describing it as a model for sustainable development.
She called on the private sector to take a more active role in addressing climate issues and stressed the importance of individual responsibility. She remarked, “We need to create a healthier environment for future generations, not just focus on building wealth.”
The Rashid Minhas Green Road project is a step toward addressing the environmental issues faced by the country. Initiatives like this highlight the role of both the private sector and individuals in driving positive change for a more sustainable future.
