The Pakistan cricket team is gearing up for a crucial match against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, set to take place at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. This match is of significant importance for Pakistan, especially after their recent loss to India, as a victory against Australia is crucial to rejuvenate their tournament prospects.

The Pakistani team is facing additional challenges as several key players, including Abdullah Shafique, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Zaman Khan, were dealing with viral fever. This ailment led to their absence from an optional training session held on Tuesday. However, most of these players have been deemed fit to play after thorough medical examinations conducted by Dr. Saleem, the medical officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Furthermore, Pakistan is dealing with the absence of Fakhar Zaman due to a knee injury, which rules him out of the Australia clash. This will likely lead Pakistan to stick with their opening combination of Abdullah Shafique and Imam ul Haq.

Agha Salman’s battle with fever is ongoing, making his availability for the upcoming match uncertain.

Given their recent loss to India, Pakistan is contemplating changes to their underperforming spin attack. Shadab Khan’s performance has been below par, and there are considerations to replace him with Usama Mir.

As the World Cup progresses, Pakistan’s squad faces various challenges, including health issues and performance concerns. The team will be looking to regroup, address their weaknesses, and come back stronger in their upcoming matches to remain competitive in the tournament.

Pakistan’s Playing XI Against Australia:

  1. Abdullah Shafique
  2. Imam ul Haq
  3. Babar Azam
  4. Mohammad Rizwan
  5. Saud Shakeel
  6. Iftikhar Ahmed
  7. Mohammad Nawaz
  8. Usama Mir
  9. Haris Rauf
  10. Hasan Ali
  11. Shaheen Afridi
