Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has made a significant discovery of gas and condensate in the Shah Bandar Block, located in Sujawal District, Sindh. The discovery was made at the Pateji X-1 well in the Upper Sand (C-Sand) reservoir.
The well has a production capacity of 12.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and 196 barrels of condensate daily. The wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) was recorded at 2,551 psi using a 32/64-inch choke.
This is the second successful find from the Pateji X-1 well. In November 2024, a previous discovery was made in the D-Sand reservoir. PPL operates the Shah Bandar Block with a 63% working interest, while its joint venture partners include Mari Petroleum (32%), Sindh Energy Holding (2.5%), and Government Holdings Private Limited (2.5%).
The discovery is expected to play a key role in meeting Pakistan’s growing energy needs. By tapping into local resources, it will help reduce the country’s dependence on imported energy, offering a much-needed boost to the economy.
