Today, it was reported in the Senate that Pakistan Railways earned more than Rs40 billion in the first half of this fiscal year. Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, who oversees Law and Justice, highlighted that last fiscal year’s revenue reached Rs63.25 billion. Despite this increase in earnings, he emphasized the need to cut down on non-essential spending and enhance railway tracks.
In response to a follow-up question, the Minister mentioned a decline in train accidents in recent years and talked about ongoing projects to improve transportation in Islamabad. These projects include the Metro Bus service from Saddar to Pak Secretariat and the launch of three new public transport routes in 2022.
Minister Tarar also stressed the importance of maintaining the dignity of parliament and called for cooperation between government and opposition lawmakers to steer the country towards economic stability.
