The Pakistan women’s cricket team etched their names in history with an extraordinary feat, achieving a clean sweep against South Africa in a thrilling three-match T20 International series held at the iconic National Stadium in Karachi.
In the third T20I, Pakistan won by a slight margin of six runs, sealing the whitewash against South Africa on a memorable Monday. As South Africa chased a target of 151 runs, they encountered consistent setbacks in the form of wicket losses.
However, the South African skipper, Laura Wolvaardt, emerged as a standout performer, crafting a remarkable innings of 72 runs from 54 deliveries, embellished with nine boundaries. She directed her team to a miraculous victory but was caught out while attempting a crucial six when they needed just 18 runs from the final 10 balls. Regrettably for South Africa, following her dismissal, their remaining batters failed to secure the elusive win.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sundhu played pivotal roles by claiming two wickets each.
In the first innings, Pakistan set a challenging total of 150/5 within the stipulated overs. Sidra Ameen and Bismah Maroof contributed 39 runs each, while their captain, Nida Dar, displayed her dominance with a blistering 36 runs from 20 balls, including six boundaries.
Prior to this remarkable third match, Pakistan had already clinched victory in the first T20I by five wickets and the second T20I by seven wickets in this historic series.
