Customs officials at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport recently carried out two significant operations, seizing mobile phones worth millions of rupees. The items were confiscated from a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess and two passengers.
In the first incident, PIA air hostess Nadia Batool was caught attempting to smuggle 30 iPhones, valued at over Rs. 11.2 million. The phones were hidden within her personal belongings, but customs authorities were able to detect and confiscate them.
In a separate case, passengers Muhammad Arshad and his wife Fariha Amin were found with mobile phones worth Rs. 5.5 million hidden in their luggage. Customs officials discovered the concealed phones during routine inspections, preventing the illegal attempt to bring them into the country.
These operations reflect the heightened vigilance at the airport and the ongoing efforts by customs authorities to crack down on smuggling activities. Both cases highlight the seriousness of customs enforcement and the commitment to maintaining security and legal compliance at the country’s airports.
