Twenty-four Pakistani students from three schools in Karachi recently returned to their hometown after a highly informational and exciting educational experience at the US Space and Rocket Center’s Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
Bisma Solangi, a 13-year-old girl who gained attention for her innovative anti-sleep glasses was also a part of the camp. This remarkable opportunity was a joint collaboration between the US Consulate General in Karachi and The Dawood Foundation’s MagnifiScience Centre.
The collaboration aimed to promote and enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in 50 schools across Karachi. The US grant consisted of three key components:
- Providing STEM training to 100 Pakistani teachers.
- Organizing educational field trips for over 1,000 students to the MagnifiScience Centre.
- Hosting a science project competition.
After passing a competitive selection process by a panel of judges, eight students and one teacher from three schools were chosen for their winning projects. The three teams, comprising 24 students and three teachers in total were then selected to participate in the Space Camp in Huntsville.
