Pakistan all-rounder Agha Salman achieved a special milestone during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Thursday.
He hit a six on the very first ball he faced, helping Pakistan win the match while chasing a target of 131 runs. This made him only the second player ever to do so in Test cricket. The first player to achieve this feat was Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya in 1993 against England.
In the match, Pakistan won by four wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The victory was largely thanks to Saud Shakeel’s outstanding double century in the first innings.
During the run-chase, Pakistan resumed at 48-3 on the fifth and final day with Babar and Imam-ul-Haq at the crease. Babar scored 24 runs before being dismissed, and Saud Shakeel made 30 runs. However, Imam played a good innings and remained unbeaten on 50 runs, which included four fours and a six.
The match saw Sri Lanka being bowled out for 279 runs in their second innings on day four, setting a target of 131 runs for Pakistan to win.
Saud Shakeel, who scored the double century, received the Player of the Match award and mentioned that the team’s focus was on building partnerships and being positive in their approach. He also highlighted their proficiency in playing spin bowling due to his experience playing in Karachi.
