The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in collaboration with both public and private sectors, has announced ambitious plans to establish Pakistan’s largest Information Technology Park (IT Park) in Islamabad. This initiative is in line with the objectives set by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is keen on enhancing Pakistan’s IT exports through tangible actions.

Spanning an extensive area of 3.3 acres in Sector G-10, the site for the IT Park has been carefully selected and approved by the CDA Board. The chosen location provides ample space for the development of a state-of-the-art facility aimed at fostering innovation and growth within the IT sector.

The proposed IT Park will boast approximately 100,000 square feet of space, catering to the needs of a significant number of professionals simultaneously. With a capacity to accommodate around 5,000 to 6,000 freelancers concurrently, it aims to become a bustling hub of technological advancement and entrepreneurial activity.

Designed with the vision of nurturing creativity and collaboration, the IT Park will feature a comprehensive array of amenities. These include a dedicated research center to facilitate cutting-edge exploration and development, a well-equipped library to support continuous learning and knowledge sharing, and spaces for software houses to operate and innovate.

The IT Park will offer modern conference rooms for hosting meetings and events, along with specialized working areas tailored to the needs of freelancers and startup ventures. Additionally, there will be a designated area within the park for showcasing IT products, providing a platform for local innovations to gain visibility and recognition.

Financing for the construction of the IT Park will be primarily sourced from private IT companies, who will also have the opportunity to lease office spaces within the premises. This public-private partnership model not only ensures the timely realization of the project but also fosters collaboration between the government and the private sector in driving economic growth and technological advancement.

Although private entities will initially finance the construction, it’s important to note that the ownership of the IT Park will eventually be transferred to the CDA. This ensures that the facility remains a public asset, serving the long-term interests of the community and contributing to the sustainable development of Pakistan’s IT infrastructure.
