The first picture from the moon has arrived. Reports say the CubeSat has completed three loops around the moon. Pakistan’s CubeSat satellite successfully entered the moon’s path on May 8th.
As per British media, Pakistan’s satellite will circle the moon for 3 to 6 months, taking pictures of its surface.
The Institute of Space Technology states that CubeSat, Pakistan’s first satellite to enter the moon’s orbit, completes one circle around the moon every 12 hours. CubeSat will capture images from a height of 200 kilometers above the moon’s surface. CubeSat’s signals will travel back to Earth over a distance of 360,000 to 400,000 kilometers.
Remember, CubeSat was launched into space on May 3rd alongside China’s Chang’e 6 mission from the Hainan Space Launch Site. China’s Chang’e 6 mission aims to gather samples from the moon’s surface.
