The Information and Broadcasting Division has received a significant budget allocation of Rs2 billion for its projects in the public sector development program (PSDP) for the upcoming financial year.
Out of this budget, Rs1.54 billion will be used for ongoing schemes, while Rs454.6 million will be allocated for new schemes.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been granted funds for various ongoing projects according to the recently released PSDP 2023-24.
These include Rs35 million for the first phase of establishing the Pakistan Information Center (PIC), Rs448.5 million for the Central Monitoring Unit (Islamabad) Directorate, and Rs32.5 million for off-electronic media publications.
Moreover, a budget of Rs30.3 million has been assigned for the publication project of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s speeches from 1906 to 1948. The National Information Media Archive Repository (Islamabad-Lahore Cyber Wing) has received an allocation of Rs379.4 million. Additionally, Rs20.9 million has been set aside for the restoration of media view services in Khairpur, Sindh, and Rs48.1 million for the upgradation of the Central Board of Film Censors in Islamabad.
The upgradation of studios and master control rooms in Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and PTV will receive Rs.154.9 million.
Furthermore, a budget of Rs200 million has been earmarked for the establishment of the National Film Production Institute in Islamabad.
Regarding new schemes, Rs546 million has been allocated for the terrestrial digitization of PTV with the assistance of China.
