At the ‘PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference,’ Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, emphasized the government’s focus on using space technology to help Pakistan grow.
She explained that the PAKSAT-MM1 satellite would significantly improve the country’s communication system. One of its main goals is to bring internet services to rural and remote areas, allowing more people to connect digitally and helping to build a more connected Pakistan.
Khawaja also shared the good news that Pakistan has advanced by 14 positions on the United Nations’ e-governance development index.
This improvement means Pakistan is now one of only two countries in Asia that has moved up to a higher level of digital governance, which shows progress in the use of technology in government services.
In his speech, SUPARCO Chairman Muhammad Yousuf Khan discussed how the satellite would benefit the country’s economy and society.
He also encouraged local businesses and industries to get involved in the country’s space programs, promoting collaboration in future space-related initiatives. This partnership between government and private sectors is seen as a key step in driving technological advancements and boosting national development.
