Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed his congratulations to Karachi Whites for their remarkable victory in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24.
This celebratory meeting took place at the Pakistan cricket headquarters in Lahore and included the team’s captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and their key bowler, Shahnawaz Dahani.
Karachi Whites secured their fifth Quaid-e-Azam Trophy title by defeating Faisalabad in the final match of the domestic cricket tournament. They won with a significant margin of 456 runs on the final day at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
In light of this achievement, the PCB issued an official statement applauding Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership skills and recognizing the exceptional performance of fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani.
During the meeting, Ashraf also stressed the PCB’s unwavering commitment to player well-being and the development of regional cricket.
This historic win is the fifth Quaid-e-Azam Trophy victory for Karachi Whites, with their last triumph dating back to the 2001-02 season when they defeated Peshawar. In the early ’90s, they achieved a remarkable hat-trick of titles in the 1990-91, 1991-92, and 1992-93 seasons.
Saim Ayub of Karachi Whites, who delivered outstanding innings of 203 in the first and 109 in the second innings, was honored as the player of the final. Sarfaraz Ahmed, who played a pivotal role in leading the victorious team with 697 runs and 28 dismissals, was named the player of the tournament.
From Faisalabad, Khurram Shahzad, who secured 36 wickets in eight matches, was recognized as the best bowler, and Ali Shan, with 28 catches and one stumping, was declared the best wicket-keeper of the tournament.
