The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approached former New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman Luke Ronchi for the coaching role of the national team, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Ronchi, who currently serves as an assistant coach for New Zealand, has asked for some time to think over the offer to coach the Men in Green, as mentioned by the sources.
It’s important to mention that Ronchi, having played for both Australia and New Zealand, had previously turned down an offer from the PCB to coach the national team. After his refusal, Bradburn was selected for the coaching position.
This development comes after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently stated the board’s efforts to finalize a coaching panel for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on April 18.
The coaching positions were left vacant after Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick were reassigned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore due to role changes in November 2023, with their departures occurring in January this year.
