The Ministry of Haj and Umrah is working on an exciting project that will allow people to travel to Madinah on camels, following the same path that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took during his migration to Madinah.
The ministry, in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Sites, is developing 27 points along the Hijra Road, including hotels, rest houses, and museums.The initiative, called the Road to Thaniyat Al-Wada, will enable travelers to experience the journey that the Prophet took in 622 AD when he migrated from Makkah.
The caravan will start from Ghar Thor, the cave on Mount Thor in Makkah, where the Prophet and his companion Abu Bakr stayed hidden for three days before beginning their journey to Yathrib, which later became known as Al-Madinah Al-Munawwara.Along the way, the caravan will stop at the location of Umm Maabad’s tent.
Umm Maabad generously hosted the Prophet during his journey to Yathrib and, despite a scarcity of food due to drought, her sheep miraculously provided milk when the Prophet touched their udders.
The caravan will also pass through the spot where Suraqa Bin Malik met the Prophet. Suraqa had been tracking the Prophet’s footprints with the hope of claiming the reward placed on his head by the Quraish.
