Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs, has announced that the federal government will be relaunching the laptop scheme for the youth this year as part of the Prime Minister Youth Program. The scheme aims to provide 100,000 laptops to young individuals.
Khawaja expressed regret that the previous government had discontinued this scheme. She highlighted that the laptops provided under the Prime Minister Youth Program played a crucial role in enabling young people to continue their education and jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the laptop scheme, the government has also introduced the National Innovation Award to foster a startup culture among the youth.
Earlier this year, PM Shehbaz Sharif had announced that the federal government would distribute 100,000 laptops to high-achieving young individuals across the country based on merit. He emphasized that the laptops had proven to be essential for the youth, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as they helped them earn a livelihood.
The Prime Minister, while distributing cheques to beneficiaries of a loan scheme and launching a Freelancer Card, had stated that he was providing laptops, not weapons, emphasizing the positive impact of the initiative.
Overall, the relaunch of the laptop scheme aims to provide young individuals with access to technology and opportunities for education and employment, empowering them to thrive in various fields.
