PTCL has successfully landed the Africa-1 submarine cable in Karachi, marking a major step forward in the country’s digital connectivity.
This new cable system will significantly improve internet speeds and strengthen Pakistan’s link to the global digital network.
With a massive capacity of 96 terabits per second, the Africa-1 cable will connect Pakistan to several countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and France.
This connection will enhance data transfer, making internet services faster and more reliable across the country. It will also help bridge the digital divide by providing better access to online services for businesses and individuals.
The Africa-1 project is part of an international consortium and aligns with Pakistan’s Digital Vision 2030. By investing in such projects, PTCL aims to improve the country’s digital infrastructure, supporting economic growth, education, and innovation.
This is the second major submarine cable to land in Pakistan within a few months. Earlier, in December 2024, the Africa-2 cable was successfully installed. With the addition of Africa-1, Pakistan now has even greater internet capacity and connectivity to global networks.
