The Punjab government has decided to suspend mobile and internet services throughout the province on September 22. This measure is being implemented to prevent cheating during the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). The suspension will affect internet access within a 500-meter radius of test centers in 12 districts, including major cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and D.G. Khan.
Around 82,500 candidates are expected to participate in the exam at various locations. To ensure a safe and secure testing environment, the government has also enacted Section 144 in these 12 cities. This means there will be restrictions on movement within 100 yards of exam centers, allowing only candidates and authorized supervisory staff to enter the area. Furthermore, any protests or demonstrations near the test centers will be prohibited.
These measures are designed to uphold the integrity of the exam process and maintain order during the MDCAT. The government aims to create an atmosphere that discourages any form of cheating, ensuring that the examination is conducted fairly for all candidates. By taking these steps, the authorities hope to support students in achieving their academic goals without disruption or unfair advantage.
