Former Pakistan cricketer and commentator, Ramiz Raja, disclosed that Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, is feeling depressed and frustrated as the team is on the verge of elimination from the World Cup.
After New Zealand’s recent victory against Sri Lanka, Pakistan’s chances of reaching the semi-finals have become extremely slim. To advance, they would need a substantial win over England in their upcoming match.
If Pakistan bats first, they must defeat England by a challenging 287 runs. Alternatively, if they bowl first, they need to restrict England to 50 runs and chase the target in two overs, or limit them to 100 runs and chase it down in three overs.
Ramiz Raja, who met Babar Azam recently, shared that the captain is disheartened by the team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.
Raja praised Babar’s maturity and temperament, noting that he handles criticism well. While Raja acknowledged the challenges in Pakistani cricket, he advocated for careful utilization of the current player pool, emphasizing the need for time and avoiding drastic changes.
Although Raja didn’t disclose details of his private conversation with Babar about the captain’s future, he expressed empathy and urged reflection on the part of critics.
