Sana Mir and Mohammad Yousaf, both notable figures in Pakistani cricket, have received the prestigious honor of being named honorary life members of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
Sana Mir, who led Pakistan in 137 out of her 226 international matches, achieved a significant milestone as the first Pakistani woman cricketer to claim 100 wickets in ODIs. Throughout her career, she took a total of 240 international wickets, showcasing her prowess in bowling.
Mohammad Yousaf, known for his impressive batting statistics, boasts an outstanding Test average of 52.29 across 90 matches, accumulating over 7,500 runs. Additionally, in 288 ODIs, he amassed more than 9,700 runs, highlighting his consistency and impact in both formats of the game.
One of Mohammad Yousaf’s remarkable achievements includes setting the record for the most Test runs in a calendar year, achieving a staggering 1,788 runs in 2006, a testament to his dominance and skill as a top-order batsman.
The MCC’s decision to confer honorary life membership upon Sana Mir and Mohammad Yousaf acknowledges their significant contributions to cricket, not only in Pakistan but also on the international stage, marking them as exemplary figures in the sport’s history.
